DUCTLESS · MINI-SPLIT INSTALLATION

Ductless Mini-Split Installation For The Rooms Your Ductwork Never Reached

A converted garage, a sunroom, an addition built after the original system was sized. A mini-split gives that space its own zone without opening a wall to run new duct.

Where a mini-split earns its place in a house that already has central air

Most of the calls we get for a mini-split are not about replacing a whole system. They are about one room that never got what it needed: a garage turned into an office, a sunroom added on after the fact, a bonus room over the garage that runs ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house all summer. Extending the existing ductwork into a space like that is often impractical without tearing into finished walls and ceilings, and even then the room usually ends up on the tail of a duct run that was never sized for it. A ductless system solves that by putting a small, quiet indoor unit directly in the room, connected to an outdoor condenser through a narrow line set instead of ductwork, so the space gets its own thermostat and its own zone independent of the rest of the house.

Zoning that does not fight the rest of the house

Because each indoor unit runs on its own zone, a mini-split does not force the whole house to a single temperature to keep one room comfortable. That matters most in additions and converted spaces that were never part of the original design load, where the central system either overworks trying to reach them or gets throttled back and leaves the rest of the house lukewarm. We size the outdoor condenser and indoor head to the actual room, not a generic chart, and walk you through where the line set and drain will run before anything gets mounted.

Good fits for a mini-split

If a room fights the rest of the house on temperature, this is usually why.

  • A garage converted into an office, gym, or guest space
  • A sunroom or addition built after the original system was sized
  • A bonus room over the garage that runs hotter than the rest of the house
  • A detached studio, workshop, or casita with no ductwork at all

If your space is not on that list, it may still be a good candidate. Call and describe the room and we will tell you honestly whether a mini-split is the right tool or whether something else solves it better.

One crew, every system

Not a side job for a specialist crew that never comes back.

The same NATE certified technicians who repair and maintain the central system elsewhere in your house install and service your mini-split. That matters later: if you ever want the new zone connected into a broader maintenance schedule, it is one company keeping track, not two.

Once the unit is in, keep it running well with the same seasonal checks the rest of your home gets. See AC Maintenance for what that visit covers.
